Abstract

Following the observations of Tony Tanner who, in his study, links the theme of adultery to two models offered by the Bible and that can be found in the Old and New Testaments, the work aims to reason about Clarín's Regenta and the presence, within the novel, of these models.

In particular, the analysis focuses on Don Fermín de Pas, an elusive and multiple character and the relationship he establishes with passion, infidelity and adultery and his metamorphoses in the different spaces in which he moves (Vetusta, the Cathedral, the Vivero)
