Abstract
This essay aims at carrying out a reading of Fragmentos de un libro futuro, by the poet José Ángel Valente (1929-2000). Posthumous work by choice of the author, Fragmentos represents the latest chapter of a remarkable literary career, as well as a summary of the most important poetic themes of the author. The peculiarity of this work forces to confront oneself with a fragmentary structure, in which the lyrical subject vanishes in between the discontinuities of writing and entrustitself to the language.
