Abstract

The article aims to provide a general perspective on the studies of authorial philology applied to the Hispanic world, with particular reference to the specific issues of Spanish poetry in the 16th and 17th centuries. After a rapid introduction concerning the birth of these studies and the Italian controversy of the scartafacci, the discourse shifts to the comparison with genetic criticism, in order to highlight the main differences between the two schools. Finally, the work focuses on some significant cases in which reflection on authorial variants can lead to reasoning on broader poetic and literary issues.
