Abstract
«Todo está igual, y en muchas cosas, peor que estábamos»: Galdosian memories on two restorations (1814 and 1875)
The study focuses on the peculiar historical-political interpretation of the Bourbon Restoration (1814 e 1875) Galdós offered in two of his National Episodes: Memoirs of a courtier of 1815 and Cánovas. By comparison, the works seem to “talk” to each other by a network of references and allusions, which can disclose the bitter author’s message: the Bourbon absolutism survives in the Restoration.
