Abstract

The tradition of Bartolomé Leonardo de Argensola’s poetry consists of the 1634 princeps edition of the Rimas, and an extremely relevant number of manuscripts, in some cases very authoritative ones. The comparison of texts transcribed from the princeps and those attested in the manuscript tradition makes it possible to detect a truly conspicuous number of compositions characterized by multiple redactions due, almost certainly, to the author's continuous reworking of the texts. The present article analyses the four redactions that the tradition has bound us of a sonnet, in order to define the diachrony of the text and understand through its dynamism the direction of the revision interventions made by Bartolomé Leonardo in the transition from one redaction to another, and what they also imply in terms of poetics.
