Redes intelectuales femeninas: Gabriela Mistral, María Luz Morales y la Residencia Internacional de Señoritas Estudiantes de Barcelona

Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to study in detail Gabriela Mistral's stay in Barcelona during the first months of 1935. Using documentary sources, we analyse the intellectual and emotional networks that the Chilean poet established in the Catalan capital, thanks to cultural institutions such as the International Residence for Young Ladies Students, the association Amics de la Poesia or the literary magazine Quaderns de Poesia, to which she gave the unpublished poem «Deshecha». We will particularly highlight the role played by the journalist María Luz Morales as a mediator and interlocutor and we will study the frustrated project of the Barcelona edition of Gabriela Mistral's book Tala (1938).
