Abstract
This paper analyzes three significant poems of the ultraist period in Lucía Sánchez Saornil’s poetic work (Madrid, 1895 – Valencia, 1970). The main objective is to highlight the main role of metapoetic discourse in this author’s avant-garde poetry. On the one hand, it shows the break with the previous period of her work -her modernist poetry-, accomplished through intertextual relations and with metapoetry. On the other hand, it underscores the restraint with which Saornil carried out this process of poetic evolution. Finally, it aims to frame her metapoems within the paradigm of Spanish avant-garde, specifically within the ultraist movement.
